Greening Sacred Spaces (GSS) is our longest-running program. A practical program, GSS assists faith communities with both the educational and spiritual dimensions of greening as well as the “how to” side of audits, retrofits and generally reducing a faith community’s footprint.
We have developed a number of resources with workshops, videos and webinars, case studies, posters, guides, tip sheets, building audits, energy benchmarking, certification, awards, and more — to support faith groups in becoming community leaders in working towards a more sustainable future for all.

Forming a Green Team
A Green Team is a group of individuals within a place of worship that work together to coordinate greening/environmental efforts. It may be a sub-committee of another group or it may stand alone within the faith community.
Green Teams can be made up of anyone interested in the greening process and may include members of other committees such as social action/community, building/property, worship, education, etc.
It is important to establish a Green Team Leader to help coordinate the team efforts and liaise with Greening Sacred Spaces staff.
